BJC Director of Community Relations
The BJC is currently seeking a Director of Community Relations to manage the Council’s community relations efforts. This position aims to promote understanding and partnerships with different faith and ethnic communities across the region through education programs and advocacy, with a focus on issues involving social justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion. This includes building awareness and diversity both within the Jewish community and with interfaith and interethnic partners, in part by creating programing for people of all ages. The ideal candidate will be personable, creative and a quick thinker, able to independently prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities. The BJC offers a hybrid work environment for employees. The position will primarily work out of the BJC’s Park Heights office. (Note: The office location is expected to be in The Associated’s headquarters at 101 Mt. Royal Avenue until fall 2024, and then the BJC office will return to The Associated’s Park Heights campus at Park Heights Avenue and Northern Parkway.) The position will report to the BJC’s Deputy Director and work closely with both the Deputy Director and Executive Director in all aspects of the job.

Key areas of responsibility:
• Grow relationships and partnerships with different faith and ethnic communities across the region and the state
• Focus on programming to make Baltimore’s Jewish community more welcoming to all Jews
• Create and implement programs that help build understanding and partnerships in such areas as education and community service
• Monitor community relations issues of importance to the BJC and the Jewish community
• Work with the BJC staff on social media and communications related to issues within the community relations portfolio
• Work with the BJC’s board and Community Relations Committee on issues and programs
• Assist in other major programs and events organized by the BJC, including working on the BJC’s Social Justice Teen Fellowship program
Qualifications, Requirements & Experience:
 College degree and relevant work experience required.
 Available to work 8:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., some evenings, and occasional Sundays
 Strong written and oral communication skills, including use of Microsoft Office products
 Background and experience in social media communications
 Reliable transportation

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 annually. Salary commensurate with experience.

Program Overview:
The Baltimore Jewish Council (BJC) fosters cooperation and understanding within the Jewish community; builds relationships and mutual understanding with ethnic, racial, and religious groups across Maryland; advocates at all levels of government for social justice and public resources on issues of concern to the Jewish community; fights against hate and antisemitism while helping to ensure security for community institutions; and through education and action, promotes strong support for Israel and the Jewish people at home and throughout the world.
